Following is a short list of a few of my close friends. This list is by no means
exhaustive, and I'm sure it will take me some time to finish it. So, if you aren't
on this page, and think you ought to be, pleas drop me a line. I always enjoy having
more people to call friends ;) Note that I'm just roughing this page out for now,
I have to run my descriptions through a good spell checker, and fill in more details
about everyone. I just wanted to get something up so I didn't have to keep looking
at the same list of names that have been on my website for over a year now.

Amber and I have been friends for years. She's very flirtatious, creative,
and just happy to be here! While she may favor the dramatic from time to time,
she always manages to put a positive spin on things, and comes out smiling in
the end. She's married to Brian, and currently works with us at Mars, as one of
the graphic artists on Mindy's team. When she isn't working or laying the smack
down on Brian, she's probably online role playing over IRC, drawing some fantastic
art, or making
costumes for the local Cosplay club. She's a rabbid Anime fan, and wants to be
a samurai princess when she grows up.

Andy and his wife, Mary Stewart are two of the few people I'm glad I kept in contact with
after I left Sewanee. He's an avid outdoorsman, going hiking, climbing, and even SCUBA
diving with me a few times. He's smart as they come, wrapping up his PhD in Laser physics
at UAB this year. Andy and MSA are the ones who through the infamous Halloween Party from
Hell every year, which involves the mighty mighty Shot Luge, and more alcohol than the law
should allow in one house. Ahh, good times!

Brian and I have been friends for a long time. He's been like a brother too me for most of
that time... you know, the kind of brother you want to hit over the head repeatedly with a brick,
but never could get away with it because he's bigger than you, and he might hit you back ;)
He and I work together now at Mars, and despite our difference, we complement each other
pretty well. With his Database skills, and My web and application design skills, I figure
we'll be taking over the world in approximately 5 years.

Cameron I met several years ago, while I was living in Chicago. I had come back to Chattanooga for
the weekend, to participate in Brian and Ambers wedding. That night, Cat took me to Cam's
birthday party, where I got to meet alot of the people from the Chattanooga Forums. Cam is
loud, obniouxious, arrogant, smart as a whip (with an wit to match), and will give you the
shirt off his back if you need it. He's an all around good guy to have on your side. He had
long hair until this year, when he lost it in a drunken football bet. We still give him hell
for that ;)

Carl and I met back in Sewanee. He was a freshman my sophomore year. The only reason we
met him was that he bore a striking resemblance to my best friend and roommate, Jon Talbot.
So much so, in fact, that we dubbed him 'Jon's Stunt Double', before finally introducing
ourselves. He fit into our crowd almost immediately, and has been a friend ever since. He
even lived at my appartment for one summer, before he moved off to to Illinois to get his
masters degree in asking people if they'ld like fries with that (well, what else can you
use a master's in Philosphy for? ;) ). Of course, I only say that now, because he's 5 hours
away, and doesn't have a reliable car. With a second degree blackbelt in Tai Kwon Do, he
could kick my ass before I knew what hit me!

Cass and I go way back. I was there when she met her first husband. I was there when
she got pregant. I was there when it all went wrong. I was there when it all got better
I was there when she got a divorce. Through it all, I've been there. She's doing a
great job as a single mom, somehow finding time to go back to college to finish her degree.
She's one of the happiest people I've ever known (overshaddowed only by Sandy and Amber),
and always knows how to lighten the mood. At the same time, she can match wits with Brian
and Lee, making her a formidable opponent, and always a blast to have at a party.

Ahh yes... Cat. The big sister I never knew I never wanted! She and I go back quite
some time as well. The first time I met her, she tried to kill me ;) Not that I didn't
deserve it, but that doesn't change the fact that she nearly drowned me! Since then, she
has also choked slammed me over a table, and has tried to make my heart explode by riding
me too hard on our bikes... but I can't really count that last one. Cat is on my bike
team, and is my primary riding partner these days. I almost got to the point at the end
of last season where I could keep up with her, but I havn't ridden all fall or winter long,
so I'm sure she'll smoke me the first time we ride together. She also makes a great body
guard and cock blocker, when certain indescrimanent members of the opposite sex get a little
too frisky for my comfort. I return the favor by fixing her computers and making cheesecakes
and taco's for her. Dispite how much we pick on each other, she really is one of my
favorite people these days.

Mr. Bendy is another of my friends from the Chattanooga Forum community. He's a nice
guy, especially when you get a couple Guinesses in him, and always knows how to put
a smile on peoples faces... even if it's at the expense of other people there ;) He
is a massive flirt too, just ask Cat. Mr. Bendy is Cat's official Lap Puppy.

Homebrew is yet another of my Chattanooga Forum Friends. Never far from a ready source
of Guiness, he's just cynical yet witty enough to keep people laughing in a conversation.
When he's not schooling his brother, Mr. Bendy, at Halo, he's working with Cameron to
amass the worlds largest collection of unique Mp3's. At last count, they had something
like 200-250 thousand Mp3's. Here I thought I was doing good with my 7500 songs. One of
these days, I'm going to have to raid their place, armed with an external hard drive, and
nab some of their stuff...

Debbie is one of those great people you meet in life. She also happens to be my boss, and
the cheif sponser of the Martians on Wheels bike team. If not for her loaning me that brand
new bike she bought for her beach house, I never would have gotten into biking. So, for
that alone, I owe her a huge debt of grattitude. Beyond that, she's always encouraging me
at work, pushing me to do more, and trusting me with more and more important projects. She
and I can always sit and chat about something, and she knows that when an emergency crisis
comes up, I've always got a hidden stash of Emergency Chocolate on hand to deal with it.

Yeah, that's my mother. She spoils me... always has... Even when I was a snot nosed
punk in high school, she did everything she could to make sure I had everything I needed
to do what I wanted... often at her own expense. She currently lives with my Grandmother,
helping take care of her and my aunt Francis, which is more than a full time job. She
comes down to visit once every couple of months to get a slice of real pizza, and a quiet
night chatting with her favorite (well, only) son. Always supportive of me, and overly
protective when she feels I've been threatened, I owe her more than I can thank her for...
which I'm sure she'll never let me forget ;) Whatever you do, don't get on her bad side.
Her temper is feared around the world. She once backed an armed 350lb heavily intoxicated
man over a stove with nothing but the power of intimdation and the point of a 14" french
knife... ahh, that story always puts a smile on my face ;)

Emily makes my inner punk/goth fanboi go SQUEEEE! As you can tell from the picture,
she is just a wee bit fiesty, and pulls no punches when she gets riled up. Her sharp
wit and creative mind are offset by her mellow attitude and laid back approach to life.
Aside from it being nigh impossible to get her to show up at social events, she is fun to
hang out with, and always good for anything from a quick laugh to a deep conversation.

Eva is a fellow student of mine at UTC. A fellow Chemistry major, she was part the
study group I put together when I got back into school and was faced with taking PChem.
She's always perky, has a great smile, and loves to be part of the group. Quite the
little socialite, too... but don't let that fool you! She's got an inner geek just
begging to be let out! She's a big anime fan, and loves to talk geek speek with those
of us she gets close too. Sweet and inocent (as far as you know ;) ), Eva is one of
those people I just enjoy having around.

Gil is one of the Martians on Wheels. He's been riding with the team since the start, and
is one of the strongest riders we have. He also has the annoying ability to ride 100 miles
and get off his bike, looking like a GQ model! In the 2 years i've been riding with Gil, I
don't think I've ever seen him get mad, or lose his cool. He is one of the most mellow guys
I know, only beaten out by Marc Fraiser and Marc Serrano (who are also on our bike team).
We have discovered at work that it's impossible to make Gil mad, and we try... alot ;) All
in good fun, of course, but seriously... we can't bring this kid down! More power too him
for it, too!

Kelly is the King of All He Survey's, at the
Chattanooga Message Forums. He started the site years ago, and it has grown steadily
since it's inception. Kelly, (or as most people know him, Gary Poole) is a very well known
radio personality here in town. When I say well know, let me explain... the day he was laid
off of WGOW talk radio last fall, the Mayor of the City of Chattanooga called him on his
personal phone to offer his condolences. Yeah, he's connected. Kelly is a great guy on his
own, too. Last Riverbend, I saw him taking photo's for the festival website. I mentioned
in passing that I was out of cash until next payday, and without thinking about it he whipped
out a twenty and passed it my way. He's just that kind of guy! It's always fun hanging out
with him at conventions, and he's great fun to talk too. He's just that guy... the one
everyone wants to be like when they grow up.

Well, actually we call him Worm because of his last name, but its so much more fun
to drop your mind into the gutter and stew on it for a bit. Worm is another friend
from the Chattanooga Message Forums. A long time friend of Cat's, we got him riding
with us over the past 2 years. He road in the Sequatchie Valley Century with us 2
years ago, on a mountain bike. To our pleasent surprise, he matched pace with me and
debbie over the whole 62 miles! Quite a feat! He's recently met the woman of his
dreams, and couldn't be happier. We're all happy for him, too, and look forward to
indoctrinating her into our little circle of mischief and mayhem! Mwhahahaha ;)

Kenny is one of the friends I made at UTC when I first moved to Chattanooga. He is unique
in that he is completely and totaly outside of every other circle of friends that I have.
That is useful, as I can always go to Kenny and vent about the rest of my friends, without
worrying about my thoughts getting out. That, and Kenny is always up for Thai Food. If
I want Thai, I call Kenny, and we head out! He's getting married this summer, and I plan on
being there. Kenny got his computer science and electrical engineering degree from UTC about
a year ago. I know, becuase he was in my living room about once a week, begging help on his
senior project ;) Since I had been coding professionally for several years at this point,
it was childs play to me. He paid me in Thai food, and went on to make an A on that project.
Now, he works for TVA, coding in VB.Net, and making over twice as much money as me... the
little poser! Ahh, the power of a degree... ;)

My father... I swear I'm naming my first ulcer after him! He's a good man, just absent
minded as hell. Every time I go to visit him in Louisville, he regails me with SCUBA
stories from his haydays in the California Wreck Divers Club. He's a pretty good story
teller though, so I don't mind. Now if only he had a way to track which stories he's
already told me a half a dozzen times before ;) These days, Dad is a Corrections Officer
with the state of Kentucky. He'll be retiring soon, and has been making noises of taking
me on a dive trip to the Keys this summer, after I graduate from UTC. He spends most of
his free time playing with his computer and selling used books on Ebay.

Lee, or 'The Troll', as he's known online, is one of my oldest friends in this town. Husband
to Sophia, Lee spends what little free time he has these days changing diapers and making
poor little interweb n00bs cry. Lee is fiercely protective of his friends and family, and
knows how to make grown men break down into sobbing, quivering blobs of rage and angst in 500
words or less. It's always funny, too, until he turns his sights on you ;) In person, most
of his Trollish tendancies disapear, and he becomes geniunely friendly, humorous, and
plain fun to be around. He's a father now, and seems to be taking to the roll of Big
Daddy Lee like a duck to water. I fear the daughter though... with parrents like those,
she's going to be hell on wheels when she grows up! ;)

Lila! Another of the mottly crew from the Chattanooga Forums, she's also well a well
known radio personality. She currently DJ's on 96.5 The Mountain on the evening shift,
from about 7:00 to Midnight. This is convienient, as that is usually when I'm home
studying (or more likely procrastinating with the radio on). In exchange for saving her
the odd slice of cheesecake, she's more than happy to play my requests, and chat for a bit
while the songs are playing. A fun, outgoing, happy person, Lila is always a joy to spend
time with.

My grandmother... what can I say about her? She's always done everything she can
to take care of me, my mother, and my sister. Hell, she bought me a new car when I
went off to college. I probably don't let her know enough how much I appreciate
what she's done for me over the years, and I really need to correct that. She's got
a picture frame on her mantle with an embossed graduation hat on it, and a piece of
paper in the frame that reads 'This place reserved for Rich'. I look forward to
filling that picture frame this May.

All hail the King! Marc tops off my most laid back list, by a land slide! Don't let
him fool you though! Behind that easy going exterior lurks a Ph.D in Political Science!
Marc also gets cool points for being from my old stomping grounds, Southern California.
He used to get up every morning and dawn and go surfing for a couple hours before class.
Now he's the captain of our biking team, one of the chief managers at Mars, and a volunteer
fire fighter (along with Jay and Brian) in Walden's Ridge. He's also one of the fastest
riders we have. He'll smoke Cat, if he's on a real racing bike. The nice thing abou that
though, is that he never rubs it in. He's always supportive of his teammates, and will
always hang back and give all the encouragment he can to our slower riders. He's a real
team player, and I'm glad he's on our team.

Ahhh, Mark... Another Martian on Wheels, and number 2 in my list of most mellow people
I know, Mark Frazier is the dude. Tall, lanky, and always giving off that chill, laid
back kinda vibe, he can put a positive spin on just about anything. He hurt his back
last year in a bike accident, so missed almost the entirety of the bike season, which
was very upsetting. His girlfriend, just as cool as he is, got him a set of Fisher Price
training wheels to put on his bike for Christmas! Mark keeps them at work as a joke ;)
Marc is constantly trying to get me drunk, refusing to belive that I really am allergic
to alcohol. So, when he finally gives up trying to hand me a drink at parties, he moves
right on into smoking *cough *cough cigarettes *cough... yeah.. thats it ;) Even
still, I'ld ride along with Marc any day of the week.

DaBone is also from the online comunity, and if I am a geek, he is my king! He has
forgotten more about computer hardware and errata than I've ever known. For fun, he
builds arcade emulation machines, and sets them up at conventions. How cool is it to
be able to play over 2000 arcade games on the same machine? DaBone knows, DaBone knows!
Please note that this is one of the few pictures that exist of Bone not hiding his
face of flipping off the camera. He's not fond of having his picture taken, and this
one was only snapped because an old friend of his guilted him into it. Of course, since
they took it with my camera, I got to keep it ;)

Marie Moser, one of the few holdovers from Sewanee, and my would-be-girlfriend. Well,
she would be, if she wasn't hopeless enamored to that other guy... ;) (Sorry Marie, I
couldn't resist!) I met Marie through Carl several years ago, when she and her mom came
down to Chattanooga with Carl to met 'the infamous Crash' (apparently I left something
of a reputation at Sewanee when I left). We went to go see the Final Fantasy Movie together.
I loved it, Carl liked it, but Marie and her mom bashed it all the way through. BAH! Her
taste in movies not withstanding, she is one of the smartest, most driven women I've ever
met. She's currently in the Patterson School of Diplomacy in Lexington Kentucky, and hopes
to be either a Diplomat or a CIA badass when she finishes there. She's fluent in several
languages and has spent at least a year in france, and countless other visits all over
Europe. I think she'll be the first female Sam Fisher, one of these days ;)

MSA (well, MSG, now that she's married ;) ) is one of the other friends I made
and Sewanee. I've managed to keep in touch with them since I left in 99, and now
that they only live 2 hours away, I go down to visit once every couple of months.
She's married to Andy Gallian, and getting her DDS at UAB. She'll make a great
dentist when she's done, I'm sure! She has a quirky sense of humor, is outgoing
and outdoorsy, and just recently bought a nicer road bike than mine! (Yes, I'm
jealous ;) ). God know how she tollerates all the parties they throw, from the
regular poker nights to the new years eve parties to the world famous (or rather,
infamous) Hallow Party From Hell, their place is the place to be! MSG is always
good for a laugh or a trip to the mall, and can outshop even me, not only in the
department stores, but in home depot and lowes too! She has 2 dremel tools, one
for doing house work, and one for doing dental work! She's hard core that way!
One of these days, I intend to hit her up for snowboarding lessons ;)

Ahh, Mindy! So much fun in such a small package :D Mindy and I have been friends for
quite some time now, since before I started working at Mars. She and her new husband
Shannon have become 2 of my closest friends in the 3 years since I've met them. Mindy
is a gamer geek at heart, loves to go to conventions with the gang, or spend a fun filled
evening at home with friends having a bad movie night. She's always sympathetic, and
will bend over backwards to help her friends out. With her bubbly personality and
surprising intellect, she's always a joy to spend time with... even when she drips into
Mindyland for a bit ;)

Randi is another friend of mine from UTC. She joined my chemistry study group at the
same time as Eva did, and has been a friend ever since. She has her qwirks, but most
of them are more endeering than anything else, making her interesting and engaging to
be around. She recently broke up with her fiance, and has been prowling the dating
market ever since. She has her self confidence issues, but I think (and everyone I've
ever asked agrees) that she is very attractive and great fun to hang around! She's
got a reasonably sharp wit, she's obviously intelligent (she's a pre-med chemistry
major, it kind of goes with the territory), and we can always chat about important
things together... like which one of us looks better with blue hair ;) I hope to keep
in touch with her, even after we've both graduated and left UTC this summer.

| So, the other day, while I was playing WoW... |

I think I'm naming my second ulcer after my sister... Don't get me wrong, I love my
sister, but there are times that I just want to beat her about the head and shoulders
with a boffer sword! She's currently living in Louisville with her fiance Johnny, near
my father. When she isn't taking care of one or both of them, she can be found
working with Pop in the Kentucky State Corrections Department as a prison guard,
or playing World of Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons, Larping, or playing in the SCA. I
think I see a pattern here... ;) Anyway, she's smarter than she lets on, and despite
having the fashion sense of a drunk blind lemur, she always manages to find new friends
wherever she goes. I still want to see her go back to college to finish her art degree,
but as long as she's happy with what she's doing, I can't fault her. I wish she would
get a live journal or myspace account, so I could keep in touch with her better... because
of her evening work schedule, it's difficult for us to find time to talk. She usually
comes down here to visit 3 or 4 times a year, for events like my annual 6-flags trip,
my birthday, and the hollidays.

Sandy, one of the most geniunely nice people I have EVER met, has been a friend
of mine since around 2000. She's even been my roommate for awhile, after I left
for Chicago for those 2 months. She moved in to house sit for me, and didn't leave for
over a year after I got back. It was worth it though, and I always enjoy her
company. Her one fatal flaw is that she has the attention span of a ferret on
crack! I've seen her in mid conversation see a shiney object, break speach, and run
for it... It's really quite amusing ;) She really cares for her friends, and
is always willing to lend a hand in any way she can. She loves baby sitting for
Sohpia and Lee, and I know that one day, Sandy will make a great mother. She is
moving away to New York this month, where she will stay through the summer with
a friend. There is some question to wether she will come back at all, or stay there,
but it doesn't matter. We all know that she'll sprout happyness wherever she winds
up, and she'll be better for it. That being said, we will all miss her if she doesn't
come back!

I think if Jimmy Buffet and Lady Arwyn (of Lord of the Rings fame) had a child, Sara would
be it. She's a SCUBA diver, as well as a chemistry major. She also makes a pretty convincing
elf or vampire at halloween or Dragoncon. She even has the phrase 'Endless Joy' tattooed,
in elvish, on one of her wrists. Easy going and laid back, she is the last person to make
waves in a crowd. She tends to be a little too nice to people who she really doesn't want
to spend time with but just wont get the message, instead hoping that somehow they will just
give up and leave her alone... (No, I'm not speaking from experiance here! Well, maybe just a
little...) Anyway, she and I can sit and talk about Chemistry or Scuba, fandom or popular
movies, or just sit around and eat guac. She loves the guac... She wants to be in the
millitary when she gets her undergrad, instead of going onto grad school. I think that's a
fine choice, but I just have trouble seeing someone as laid back and bubblingly nice flying
a jet or manning a sub. Still, she's almost qualified for her Master Diver certification,
so I have no doubt that she can do it. Ultimately, I think she'll retire to the Keys and
open a dive shop, after a long life of living it to it's fullest. In that, I wish her luck!

What can I say about Shannon? If a person can have a best, favorite, most trusted
friend, Shannon would be mine. I've only known him for 3 years, give or take.
In that time, if Cat has become a sister to me, Shannon has become a brother.
An old school gamer geek with new school tendancies, Shannon is as comfortable behind a
DM's Screen as he is tearing apart pixelated monsters in the latest MMO. He genuinely
cares for his friends, and still believes that everyone deserves to be happy (Obviously,
he doesn't share some of my cynacism). He pays attention to his friends, too. He's one
of the few people I know who can not only spot when I'm feeling down, but cares enough
to do something about it. Even if it's just taking me out to get a milkshake and have a
talk, he always knows when I need a pick-me-up, and he gets it done. Truely one of the
treasures in my life, I am wholely glad I met him. I was the best man at his wedding
to Mindy in October '05. Despite dropping the ring and botching my toast, the
wedding was a blast, and I couldn't be happier for them. I swear, Shannon and Mindy
have made it one of their goals in life to see that I stay happy, and for that, I am
eternally grateful.

Sophia is perhaps the friend I have known the longest. She and I met in the spring of
'96, over the internet. In fact, Sophia was the first person I ever talked to on IRC.
We've been friends ever since, and though we've drifted along seperate paths over the
past few years, I always enjoy the chance to share a meal and catch up with her. Sophia
is very strong willed, and is a screaming liberal. She really did threaten to move to
Canada when Bush was 'reelected' in '04. Wife to the 'Troll', Lee, they recently had a
baby, Sidda Leeann Gross, who is growing up far too fast. Less than a year old, she's
already running around knocking over everything she can get her hands on ;) Ahh, the
joys of parenthood! Sidda couldn't be in safer, more overprotective hands, and I am more
than happy that Sophia and her family are doing so well. However, the way everyone else
is spoiling that child, they are going to have quite a handful in a few more year ;)

Star, signifigant other to Kelly Lockhart, is one of those people I just enjoy
being around. She always has a hug for me, and we can chat for hours about whatever
happens to be going on. A very creative person, she works in the media industry
alongside Kelly and Lila (although they all work for differnt companies). Even
though she is part of my Chattanooga Message forums circle of friends, she has
always managed to stay off of the forums. She prefers talking to people in the
real world over chatting on the internet. We could all learn a few things from
her, I think ;) Anyway, Star is an all around great person, and I love hanging
out with her whenever I get the chance.

Tony! The only person I know who comes close to level of insanity that Sandy
exudes, Tony is always good for a laugh. He works with me at Mars, along side
Shannon and Mindy, who introduced him too me. He always knows how to make someone
laugh, and spends a conciderable amount of time proving that fact. He's also
the only person I've ever met who can make Brian shut up in 50 words or less.
He could market that and sell it, and retire a rich man... Tony is a music geek
in every sense of the word. He's forgotten more about music, bands, and the industry
than I'll ever know. If it's been recorded, he's probably heard it, or heard of
it. The same is true of comics... he knows more about comic books than most 40
year old virgins I've met, and Tony knows how to talk to women ;) He wants to start
riding his bike alongside the Martians on Wheels team, to kick off his weight loss
plan, and I'll be right there beside him, encouraging him along.

I'm listing everyone in alphabetical order, just so I dont have to try and
group my friends by some random arbitrary standard. Currently, I have 35
of my friends listed on this page. I'm sure I'll add more as I make new
friends or as I find pictures of old ones. If you want to be added to the

if you have them, and I'll get you added shortly.
I still need images for Sandy, Cass, Lee, and Kenny... I'm also planning on
